M.M.O.C.I. Year-End Annual Report for Financial Year March 2015-March 2016

                     ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2015-2016

To All Members and Board Members,

Greetings to all our members, board members and volunteers. This is our end of financial year report for the financial year stated above. We as MMOCI were able to achieve much and at the same time many challenges have continued to hinder the smooth running of the organization.

WHAT WAS NEW THIS YEAR
1.       We registered for a CBO in Asuret Sub-county, Soroti District in October 2015.
2.       We were able to renew our NGO certificate for the next 36 months.
3.       Jill and her team from The U.K. sent shoebox gifts by mail for the children.
4.       Mel from the U.K. supported a few children in Mityana and Soroti Districts with school fees.
5.       Mick continued to support the on-going construction of the poultry house and this time he committed to sending funds routinely.

ACTIVITIES
1.       Evangelism- MMOCI has continued to evangelize children especially every first Saturday of the month. We teach them the Bible, Gospel music and dancing. We also continued with Adult Bible Study Classes every second Saturday of the month. On August 2, 2015 MMOCI was offered a Sunday in Mityana Pentecostal Church. The children were blessed to perform in front of the other children and the church congregation. Again, on December 6, 2015 MMOCI was given the same offer and the children excelled in church with dance and music.  On September 25, 2015 members visited Golden Stars Academy in Mityana and taught the Word of God to the children. Our volunteer Kawuma Fred taught the children and Gospel tracts were distributed to the kids who desired them.

2.       Educational Assistance-In total MMOCI now sponsors 11 children for school fees. One who is completing University level this May, two in Secondary Level and 8 in Primary Level. Brother in Christ Ministries from the U.S. has continued to support 2 children in Mityana with school fees through MMOCI organization. The rest are supported by Jill and Mel and the U.K. team together with MMOCI Board. We still have a long list of children who need sponsorship for school and we call upon those who are committed to change lives of destitute children in the Ugandan community. Many shoebox gifts that the children received had in them scholastic materials like books, pens, markers, crayons, chalk, and even reading books.

(Lucky and David, two of our kids sponsored for school fees)

3.       Poultry Project-The construction of the poultry house is taking a little bit longer than expected. Due to the size a lot of money is required to complete the roof. MMOCI team paid a visit to the Soroti construction site in May and September 2015 to monitor the progress. As we speak the Gables are already built on the walls and what is left now is roofing materials which will cost $1700U.S.  Mick donated another 100 Pounds in February 2016 and it is currently in savings to add to future donations towards the project.

4.        Volunteers- U.K. volunteers made Christmas 2015 wonderful for some of the children. They sent shoebox gifts for them which were distributed in Soroti and Mityana Districts. In the month of September 2015 we were able to provide one of the youth volunteers, Mr. Kalule John Bosco and bicycle for transport and income generating activities. Three volunteers from Soroti, namely John Francis Etyeku, Alameth Brian and Emadu James, have been assisting us in conducting services on behalf of MMOCI. They distributed shoebox gifts, monitored the poultry house construction and registered CBO documents with Asuret sub-county. Mick, another U.K. volunteer and supporter donated 100 Pounds to one of our local youth business entrepreneurs to supplement his music recording business. Brian and Jessica from the U.S. have continued helping the organization, especially through donations and assisting in mailing supplies. Charlene Romanov donated cash monthly for the entire year.  Our resident volunteer Carla DiLiberti now fosters 7 Ugandan children in her home.  Many of which were destitute but she has been able to feed them, treat them medically and improve the quality of their lives dramatically. She continues to work along with MMOCI in Mityana District.

5.       Board Meeting-MMOCI board members held a meeting on the 28th March, 2016 and discussed a variety of issues, especially securing mobilization of resources, restructuring the board, banking and other issues. All the board members attended in person.
6.       Christmas Party-MMOCI in partnership with God Cares for Kids Ministries and Brother in Christ Ministries held the annual Christmas party. Children and their families enjoyed a meal, sodas, sweets, dancing and games with prizes.  Many of who would not otherwise have had a good Christmas.

MMOCI CHALLENGES
1.       Expensive rental costs and limited space to operate the organizational and ministerial activities.
2.        Some sponsors choose children and pay fees for them in the first term of the year and abandon them in the remaining terms of the year.
3.       Construction of the Poultry Project has lingered longer than the expected date of completion.
4.       A critical planned visit by Neil Martin, the leader of our partner Brother in Christ and his team was cancelled indefinitely due to sudden illness.
5.       We are still in an on-going process to renew our Operation Certificate in Mityana District.

ACHIEVEMENTS
1.       We were able to renew our permit to operate as an NGO in Uganda for 36 more months and also register as a new CBO in Asuret sub county, Soroti District.
2.       Poultry house construction has progressed to greater than 70 percent completion.
3.       The number of children being sponsored for school fees has increased from 5 to 11.
4.       We have continued to evangelize children through Bible Studies, music, games and distribution of Gospel tracts.
5.       Distribution of basic need materials to vulnerable children especially in the forms of clothing, shoes, scholastic materials and food.
6.       Foreign donations have increased from $1590 to $2,775.

WAY FORWARD FOR 2016-2017
1.       The organization will be shifting the premises to a less expensive rental property which will save around $50 U.S. per month.
2.       Keep trying to mobilize resources/fundraise for the completion of the poultry house.
3.       Keep networking and mobilizing more volunteers/donors to support MMOCI.
4.       Reach out to more children in schools, orphanages, churches and other institutions through evangelism.
Heartfelt thanks goes to our supporters, volunteers and friends for helping us this past year and we look forward to the coming year ahead with your continued support. Your efforts are appreciated so much. May God bless you abundantly.

Greetings to all members, volunteers and all the board members. This is the last quarter in the year 2015. This report talks much about the activities carried out within the quarter, challenges and the way forward for 2016

Any surprises in this quarter?

We were able to register with Asuret Subcounty in Soroti as a community-based organization (CBO)
Many of UK friends and volunteers chose children to send shoe boxes to in the list provided on our face book page.

ACTIVITIES

EVANGELISM
Our organization continued to evangelize children especially in Mityana. The volunteers in Mityana and Soroti have reached out to the children with the word of God. In Mityana, children also attend bible studies every first Saturday of every month. The team has also reached to the primary schools and to the hospitals. MMOCI was also given a Sunday at Mityana Pentecostal Church again. Children and volunteers performed and ministered in the church on the 6th December 2015.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE
Together with Brother in Christ Ministry and the UK volunteers, MMOCI has been able to meet school fees for 9 children; one in the university, one in secondary and seven still in primary school. Four of the children sponsored are from Soroti District in Eastern Uganda and 5 of the children are from Mityana in Central Uganda

Sponsored kids- Chrispus 15, and Paul 15. Thanks to all who have contributed to make their lives better!

 POULTRY PROJECT
Mick from U.K. supported us in November with 100 Pounds and it was put towards the poultry house. It helped raise the house to level of the gables and we are currently left with roofing which may cost around $1100 or 770 pounds.  We really pray and hope we can roof it before May 2016. Please keep us in your prayers and with any contribution that comes in we will save it towards the roofing.  It’s still a long way to go even after roofing. We will need to purchase wire, doors, chicks and supplies and to train the staff to get ready for the
work.

VOLUNTEERS
Many of our volunteers in Mityana, Soroti, U.K. and U.S. really helped us a lot in making things happen. U.K. volunteers helped with purchasing gifts for children and mailing them. It was a blessing to all the children we serve in Uganda. Volunteers in Mityana and Soroti helped in delivering the shoe box gifts to the children and taking their photos. Also volunteers helped a lot in contributing their efforts in serving the children during the kid’s Christmas party in Mityana.

Caleb helping his sister Gift open her parcel from a donor in the U.K.

Peter, 11 opening his shoebox gift from the U.K.

CHALLENGES
Lack of funds for the quick completion of the poultry house. We still need lots of prayers
The Mityana operaton permit renewal delayed and we are still waiting for the district to issue us with the  renewed certificate
Many children are also still waiting for their shoe box gifts. Many have delayed due to the slow transportation problem through the postal service

WAY FORWARD FOR 2016
Continue mobilizing funds for the completion of the poultry house
Receive operation permit from the Mityana District authorities
Network and enroll more volunteers to help boost the organization and attract more partners in to support the vulnerable children
Keep evangelizing the children so as to produce children who are Godly in our society
Our appreciation goes to Brother in Christ Ministry, Jill, Mel , Brian in the U.S. and many others who decided to put a smile on the faces of our children, especially with Christmas shoe boxes and many others. Our appreciation also goes to Mick for standing with us all this time in bring up the poultry building to almost the final stage. May God open for you doors as you start the new year 2016.

Yours Sincerely,

Okumu Stephen

Greetings to all the members, supporters and the board members.
This report is for the 3rd quarter of the year 2015 and talks about what’s new in the quarter, activities within the quarter, the challenges, way forward and the financial statement.

ANYTHING NEW?
-We were able to receive donations from abroad for school fees for 4 children the month of August.
-The poultry house was able to be raised to the roof level.
-Our U.K. team led by Jill mobilized people to donate clothing and other items to the children here.   She herself put many smiles on the kids’ faces with her own donations as well.
-We welcome a new friend/fundraiser/supporter from U.S.- Shamika Livingston.

ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT

1.       EVANGELISM:
Our organization has continued evangelizing children especially every first Saturday of the month with Children’s Bible Study day. We teach them the Bible and also enjoy music and dancing.

On August 2, 2015 MMOCI was offered a Sunday in Mityana Pentecostal Church. The children were blessed to perform before other children and the church congregation. Our adult members performed as well and gave the sermon.

On September 25, 2015 members visited Golden Stars Academy School in Mityana, Uganda and evangelized the children.  A Christian lesson was given to the children by our volunteer Kawuma Fred and Bible tracts were given out to those who desired them.

2.       EDUCATION ASSISTANCE:

Together with Brother in Christ Ministry, MMOCI has continued paying fees for the vulnerable children in Mityana.
Our partners from U.K. through Jill and Mel were able to pay fees for more four children in our organization, two from Mityana and two from Soroti and one from Kampala Uganda. Another vulnerable girl called Asumpta in Mityana was assisted with term fees since the mother was homeless, jobless and sick.

a letter of thanks to one of the donors of school fees

3.       POULTRY PROJECT:

MMOCI members paid a visit to Soroti, Eastern Uganda in the month of September 2015. The donations from Mick our U.K. supporter was used to buy supplies and pay workers to take the building to the beam level.  We thank Mick and any other person who contributed toward the building! The next phase is the roof and we are praying to cover the estimate of $1700 given by the contractor. This includes materials and labor.

4.       VOLUNTEERS:

U.K. volunteers supported us with clothes which were distributed to needy children in Mityana and Soroti Districts. Jill and the team will be providing this support year round.

In the month of September 2015 we were able to provide one of our youth volunteers with a Bicycle for income generation and ministry work.

CHALLENGES :
The following remain challenges;
1.       Funds are still lacking for the completion of the poultry project.
2.       Rental expenses remain high
3.       Limited space for children’s outreaches
4.       Neil Martin who sponsors two of the children in Mityana fell sick and was hospitalized. He and his team were scheduled to come to Uganda in November and meet more vulnerable children but their trip was cancelled until further notice

WAY FORWARD:
1.       Register MMOCI as a Community Based Organization in Mityana and Soroti Districts
2.       Enroll more volunteers
3.       Keep networking
4.       Mobilize support for Christmas packages for the children
Our appreciation goes to Brother in Christ Ministry, Mick Tulk, Brian Derby Painting, Charlene, Jill, Mel and all our great U.K. children supporters! May the almighty God reward you for your continuous support!

God bless!
