In the last term of 2024 we sponsored
another student, Isaac. He is the child of a very poor and struggling-single
mother. He attends a government school and is very bright. We will continue to
pay for his requirements needed as long as we can but call on supporters to
help us. He is in Primary 6. Supporting
him through his entire education to the finish could bring future provisions
for his mother and his own family one day.
Medical Assistance
We continued to help Richard this year but he chose to stop going to Physiotherapy at the end of March and continue his exercises from home with assistance from his family. We fundraised for a walking cage for him and he and the family were trained in helping him use it. MMOCI continued to support him with any medical assistance or transport he needed. He has thrived in this year and has shown a positive attitude, will to live and even says he is “going to walk again”! We also assisted a man who got wounded in an accident. We helped pay for continuing treatment until he healed.

Food Giveaways
We assisted several families in Asuret Sub-county throughout the year with food bought with donations locally and from abroad. MMOCI personally helps Richard monthly with food and any other needs like clothing
Income Generation
Goat/Sheep Project
In September we received a
donation to purchased one sheep as income generation for a single mother in
Omulala, Asuret Sub county. We would like to increase the donations for
this project as we would rather help someone to help themselves later on. Goats and Sheep can reproduce quickly and are
sold for income. Please consider helping
this great incentive.
Poultry Project
The poultry house is being
maintained as it remains an important asset in our ministry income-generating
future. We call on ministry members for
suggestions moving forward. We also need the outside walls plastered, a
flashing board installed and gutters and a wire fence installed for security. Among
other needs required to begin again like chicks , feeds, feeders, waterers and
workers. It currently is being used as a
store room for any maize, cassava, ground nuts grown. The current budget is around $10,000 U.S. to
get it going again perfectly.
Agriculture
Cassava gardens were harvested
and dried for future sales. Groundnuts were planted and harvested as well.
Achievements
- Successfully re-registered as a Community Based Organization June 24, 2024 good for one year
- Funds were raised to allow our secondary students to return to school· We began sponsoring a new Primary student
- Students
returned to school and finished the year with good marks
- We continued to assist families in Mityana and Soroti with received donations sent for them specific from abroad
- Partnered with a ministry from U.S. and received funding for a needy man to attend Physiotherapy the first 3 months of this year and buy him a walking cage.
- Director, Stephen
Okumu, finished his final year at the University after completing his
internship at A.I.C. Soroti in January 2024. He graduated from Kyambogo
University-Kampala, Uganda December 12, 2024
First Class degree with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences.
*Note from
the board: * It is important to mention that from being accepted into the
Social Sciences program at Kyambogo University,
Soroti Learning Centre in late 2019, starting classes in March of 2020,
right when the Coivd-19 Pandemic hit the world, and enduring lockdown after
lockdown, losing precious time in getting through the curriculum, started a brand new Ribere Association for his
Kumam tribe at his campus which was never there before, waiting 10 months longer for classes behind
his to catch up so they could graduate all at once, a 3 year degree took 4 years almost 5. We
applaud his dedication and steadfastness in completing his studies despite some
pretty significant challenges. Well done Director!
CBO certificate 2024
Director Stephen, presented with a certificate from the Kumam king, Won Ateker Raphael Otaya, for Ribere Association creation at Kyambo University –Soroti campus
Challenges
·
Challenges
remain in mobilizing funds for school fees, ministry projects and agriculture
·
The poultry
project remains on hold due to high costs of feeds and supplements and an
incomplete structure/surrounding to house them safely.
·
Need a
vehicle to facilitate ministry work in
the villages and towns
·
Need to
purchase land for the ministry to do agriculture and build an office
Way Forward
·
Prayers
·
More mobilization for funds to run the projects e.g.
poultry, agriculture, school fees, food and medical care, Hospice care, Goat
and Sheep project, etc.
·
Continue strategizing for better planning, i.e. future
income generating projects, ministry activities, etc.
·
Work on the renewal coming due in June 2025
·
Review some of our objectives
·
Partner more with organizations from U.S.
We sincerely thank all of our friends from United Kingdom,
United States and Australia for standing with us another year and for prayers
said for us and our work and people here. May the Almighty God send blessings
your way!
Okumu
Stephen
