WHAT’S NEW IN THIS YEAR?

ACTIVITIES

Education

·         Our students were supported with fees from our friend from US and UK.

·         Three secondary students returned to school  January 10, 2022 and completed the whole year

·         Our Principal Director returned to University to continue pursuing a B.A. in Social Science degree; he had also been affected by school closings since his acceptance into the program in 2020.

Poultry Project

It bears mentioning that up until the present time the MMOCI Poultry project remains on hold. All profits were deposited in the bank and have remained until further decisions are made to restart the project or invest into a new project going forward. The poultry house is being maintained as it remains an important asset in our ministry income-generating future.  We call on ministry members for suggestions moving forward. We also need the outside walls plastered, a flashing board installed and gutters and a wire fence installed for security.

Agriculture

In August 2022 an acre of cassava was planted. The trees planted last year are still growing though many were eaten or trampled on by goats

On July 20, 2022, sadly, after a long battle with Leukemia, our dear Grace passed away. We give so much thanks to all the donors who made her last couple of years on this earth so much better.  She was buried on July 22, 2022. R.I.P. Grace.

Achievements

·         Funds were raised to allow our secondary students to return to school

·         Students returned to school and finished the year with good marks

·         The remaining chickens were sold to a local restaurant/hotel and the profits deposited

·         We continued to assist families in Jinja and Mityana and Soroti with received donations sent for them specific from abroad

·         Our director Stephen continued into his second year at the university

Challenges

·         Challenges remain in mobilizing funds for school fees, ministry projects and agriculture

·         The poultry project remains on hold due to high costs of feeds and supplements and an incomplete structure/surrounding to house them safely.

·         Malaria affected both the director and his wife severely for all of 2022

·         Cheryl had to return to the U.S. due to medical problems stemming from both post-covid and frequent malaria infections though she did return in December 2022 in better health

·         We had to relocate the offices to another location due to mosquitoes and other heath issues at the location and it is now more costly

Way Forward

·         More mobilization for funds to run the projects e.g. poultry, agriculture, school fees, food and medical care, Hospice care etc.

·         Continue strategizing for better planning

·         Protect from covid-19

·         Prayers

·         Work on the renewal.

·         Review some of our objectives

We sincerely thank all of our friends from United Kingdom, United States and Australia for standing with us despite a lackluster year. May the Almighty God reward you tremendously.

Okumu Stephen

WHAT’S NEW IN THIS YEAR 2021?

·         The world reopened slowly after Covid-19

·         Supported many who were sick by paying for diagnosis and treatment

·         Supported families and individuals recovering from financial loss d/t Covid lockdown

·         Distributed food during 2 separate big giveaways sponsored by global donors

·         Continued raising chickens purchased in late 2020

·         Assisted the elderly with food and money provided by global donors

ACTIVITIES

Education

·         Our students were supported with fees from our friend from US and UK.

·         Unfortunately they were sent home 3 weeks after starting again due to covid lockdowns

Poultry project

The income generating project continued. The chicks were bought in September of 2020 and continued to grow bigger into 2021. Unfortunately the project continued to be troublesome due to supply chain issues with feeds and supplements. They were fed well but it took more financial resources to maintain their usual diet. They were all sold by mid-year though locally as opposed to taking to them to Kampala where they fetch more money. The project was temporarily put on hold until the world stabilizes more post covid. Some of the profits were donated to finish a land purchase for Brother in Christ Ministry.

  Agriculture

We have continued to plant maize especially for food and chicken consumption. We planted around eight (8) acres of land again in the year 2021.  Trees were planted to help the environment.  A piggery house was constructed and our momma pig had 8 baby piglets

Food Distribution

Thanks to our loving and caring donors around the world, we were able to have several food giveaways this year.  Some money was also distributed from donations. It enables them to purchase foods they like.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Funds were raised for food and cash donations and were distributed

·         Continued integrating piggery into farming.

·         Planted trees to help the environment

·         Many  elderly individuals were assisted with food and medical relief

·         Poultry project continued until chickens were all sold

·         Joined by new friends/ volunteers.

·         Acquired solar for the Many Mansions office

Land purchase completed in Acet Gwen

CHALLENGES

·         Poultry business was affected due to covid again (supply chain issues) and is now suspended until further notice after selling the last chickens.

·         Covid infections still affecting the country though less and lockdowns lifted only to be enforced again

·         Challenges in mobilizing funds for school fees and other ministry goals and needs

·         Need for more land for expansion and agriculture

·         Delayed renewal of the organization permit due to reduced hours and staff at govt. offices  even after lockdowns lifted

·         Covid affected Cheryl and she had to return to America for treatment and recovery. She did return in September 2021

WAY FORWARD

·         More mobilization for funds to run the projects e.g. poultry, agriculture, school fees, food and medical care, Hospice care etc.

·         Continue strategizing for better planning

·         Protect from Covid 19

·         Prayers

·         Work on the renewal.

·         Review some of our objectives

We applaud and sincerely thank all of our friends from United Kingdom, United States and Australia for standing with us in another challenging year for Ugandans. May the Almighty God reward you abundantly.
