·
Donated
children’s books from U.K. were distributed to five village schools
·
Three of our
students joined secondary
·
The spread
of Covid to Uganda unfortunately led to the cancellation of classes; all
students were sent back home for the whole year.
Books distributed at schools to 5 schools in Asuret subcounty
March 12, 2020 Students returned to school only to be sent home because of Covid-19
The income generating project continued. The
chicks were bought in March and September 2020 but unfortunately the business
has not been productive since the majority of the buyers were in a lockdown
situation.
Transportation of the chicken to the market
and the selling price of the chicken were greatly affected.
Fence repairs were done again in June. The
project needs a permanent metal chain link fence.
Chicks brought to the farm March 25, 2020
Last chickens from round one 2020 Sept. 23 2020
June 2020 New papyrus mat fence installed. This is important to us that our chickens have safe and secure outside time when they are big enough to be out.
Agriculture
We have continued to plant maize especially
for food and chicken consumption. We plant about eight (8) acres of land in the
year 2020.
We have also integrated piggery as part of
our project.
Food distribution
Covid 19 pandemic struck Uganda around March
2020. Many people in Soroti lost their livelihood and jobs and therefore we
decided to help a few vulnerable people with some food throughout the rest of
the year.
Many families were served with food during
that difficult time, not forgetting the elderly who couldn’t walk or move out
to look for what to eat and street children who are always suffering. We
partnered with individuals, regular ministry food donors and God’s Way Intl.
twice to bring hunger relief to so many.
February 18, 2020
Mosquito net distribution to an elderly woman in the village
April 15, 2020
Clothing distribution
We have always been distributing clothes to
our vulnerable people yearly but due to the closure of the post office and air
transport, this particular project was not done in 2020.
Medical
support
There were about three people that needed a
serious medical support in the year 2020. MMOCI fundraised funds for them to
meet their medical bill. These were Grace, Sarah and Lawrence. Also a
wheelchair was obtained for Rebecca, an elderly woman with mobility issues. It’s
a new area of concern that we will be focusing on as a ministry; many people
are left to die due to lack of money to visit a health facility or for
treatment. We hope to begin providing Hospice care to those coming to the end
of their life.
July 15 and 18, 2020 Funds were raised for Grace for diagnostics for lingering health condition
November 14, 2020 Post op at C.U.R.E hospital
